Hard Work Pays Off For CMC With $346,000 Award From Federal Government
Community Medical Centers has received more than $346,000 in annual Quality Improvement Awards from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) for the quality of care it provides to patients, as well as for CMC’s work to reduce health disparities and increase patients’ access to comprehensive services.
HRSA recognized CMC in five categories: Clinical Quality Improvers, Access Enhancer, Health Disparities Reducer, Advancing Health Information Technology for Quality, and Patient Centered Medical Home.
“This recognition is the result of the hard work of many, many members of our staff,” CMC Chief Executive Officer Christine Noguera said. “Community Medical Centers exists to ensure that no one in our service area is without access to high-quality medical, dental and behavioral healthcare, and to have all of that hard work validated is extremely gratifying.”
Here’s a rundown of the awards, which celebrate improvements in performance from 2018 to 2019:
- Health centers that showed a minimum 15 percent improvement in all clinical quality measures received Clinical Quality Improvers recognition.
- CMC received its Access Enhancer award for increasing its total patients served and its number of patients receiving comprehensive services. CMC served more than 101,000 patients in 2019.
- Health centers that met or exceeded federal Healthy People 2020 goals, or made at least a 10 percent improvement across different racial/ethnic groups between 2018 and 2019, received Health Disparities Reducer awards.
- Health centers whose technology advances increased access to care and improved quality of care received the Advancing Health Information Technology for Quality award.
- The Patient Centered Medical Home Recognition honored health centers that excel in the holistic care of their patients.
“CMC has worked extremely hard over the years to improve patient care and outcomes,” CMC Director of Quality Improvement Alyssa Arismendi-Alvarez said. “The awards we received from HRSA are due to the care our teams provide to our patients and to the hard work being done to ensure that patient gaps in care are reduced. I’m excited to see where we will be in the next few years.”
